A lot of people do not know why they exercise regularly. Some people have heard they really did need to exercise but they don’t exactly have the motivation for it. Ruth Olurounbi reports regular exercises do boost moods, consequently, improve exercisers’ sex life.
ASIDE the fact that regular exercises have amazing abilities to control people’s weight, combat health conditions and diseases, improve mood, boost energy and promote better sleep, some study have discovered the most fun part to exercising, it puts the spark back into people sex’s life!
It is a common knowledge that exercises help to get rid of excessive weight gain or help maintain weight loss, while also preventing terminal disease associated with cholesterol, but a recent research conducted by the Monterey Institute of International Studies, United States of America (USA) has found that regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women, and men. The study also found that those who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than men. The study also found that those who don't exercise — especially as they get older.
Scientists had earlier found in the Journal of the American Medical Association that sexual dysfunction was more likely rampant among those with poor physical and emotional health. It was recorded in the journal that lack of exercise played a major role in people’s negative experience in sexual relationships and their overall well-being.
Doctors at the New England Research Institute found that regular, vigorous exercise can be effective at lowering impotence risk. The researchers studied more than 600 middle-aged men who had not reported any problems with impotence. After eight years, the men who exercised regularly were less likely to have problems, it was found. The scientists suggested vigorous exercise as a means to improving the libido.Burning 200 extra calories a daywas said to be most effective.
A San Diego study of the University of California conducted a research in which 78 healthy but sedentary middle-aged men documented changes in their sex lives when they were assigned to exercise three to four times a week for one-hour sessions. Overall, they reported more reliable sexual functioning, more frequent sexual activity and orgasms, and greater satisfaction.
Another Harvard School of Public Health study revealed that men who exercised vigorously for 20 to 30 minutes were half likely to have erection problems as against inactive men. The scientists in the study also discovered that as a man gained weight, he became more susceptible to experiencing erectile dysfunction.
Women were also not left out of the exercise-induced sex studies. Researchers at the University of Texas studied 35 women who were aged 18 to 34. It was discovered that the women’s vaginal responses to sex were 169 per cent greater after exercising.
Cardiologists have also found a positive effect of regular exercises. Dr Mike Alonso, a cardiologist with Wellness Foundation Hospital in Lagos, linked regular exercise with increased sexual potency in the sense exercises strengthen the cardiovascular system and improve circulation. “Good circulation as we know is very important for sexual function,” he told Saturday Tribune in an interview.
There is a note of caution though: heavy exercises decrease testosterone levels, which subsequently lead to a less-robust sexual appetite, researchers have found. Over-exercising can also compromise the immune system, which could also adversely affect sexual performance, they have noted.
